Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

Passing the subject student is able to define basic electrical power terms, explain basic techniques of calculation of exercise, these apply to more complex problems and discuss achieved results from the area of electrical power engineering - production of electricity and its conversion to heat and light.

Summary

The subject deals with problems of electricity production in several types of power plants. It also cover problems of electricity usage in form of heat and light.

Subject syllabus:

Lectures: Basic electrical power terms, production and consumption balance of electricity and power plant types. Condensation power plants and heating plants. Principles of nuclear energy. Energy exploitation of water. Renewable energy sources, fuel cells and environment. Electrical part of power plants. Theoretical basis of heat diffuse. Basis of electrical heating of room. Resistance and induction heating devices. Electric arc heating devices. Basic terms from light technology. Sources of electric light, light appliances and lighting systems. Exercises: Basic electrical power terms (systems, load diagram). Balance calculations of condensation power plants. Balance calculations of nuclear power plants. Balance calculations of water power plants. Energy saving calculations. Heating devices basis practice. Heating appliances parameters calculations. Heating appliances energy intensity calculations. Light devices basis practice. Light devices energy intensity calculations. Test. Laboratory: Measurement of radiation. Measurement with solar cell. Electricity consumption measurement. Projects: Proposal of optimal electricity supplier.
