Summary

Switchboards are part of domestic, industrial and electricity distribution. They must be safe and made of materials capable of withstanding mechanical, electrical and thermal effects and environmental influences. All these requirements must be respected in their design and after their production it is necessary to verify their function by measurement. Various software tools are used to effectively design and verify the electrical installation and protection of the switchgear.

Compulsory literature:

Bhel: Handbook of Switchgears, McGraw-Hill, 2005 Set of standards IEC 61439 Low voltage switchboards IEC TR 60890 A method of temperature-rise verification of low-voltage switchgear and controlgear assemblies by calculation

Recommended literature:

Kratzke M., Dufner, J.: Work book „The standard IEC 61439 in practice“, ABB Guta, J.B.: Fundamentals of Switchgear & Protection, S.K. Kataria & Sons. Edition, 2011 HD 60364 Low voltage electrical installations Software manuals by Eplan, Rittal, OEZ

Way of continuous check of knowledge in the course of semester

1 x written test 2 x laboratory measurement 2 x individual project Examination: Written and oral
