Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
Students will get an idea of how electrotechnics is applied in industry, especially mining, to a degree necessary for Mining Faculty graduates. The aim is that in their future careers, as users of electrical equipment or managers, students can understand some problems that have to do with their functioning.
Students will also learn more about protection against injury in electrotechnics and with the most important legal regulations that they may encounter in their future careers.
Another aim is to teach students where and how to find the necessary information (literature, norms, the Internet...)

Summary
The aim of the subject is to acquaint students with basics of electrical engineering, which are applied on distributions of electric energy in open-casts, their design, dimenzioning and operating. It also acquaints students with basis of electric drives in open-casts and with possible methods of these devices protection against electric shock injury.
Compulsory literature:
Electrical engineering in mining, Stanislav Kocman, VŠB-TU Ostrava.
Recommended literature:
Materials of the teacher, online resources.
Govindasamy, K.: Electrical Engineering, Theory I, Tamilnadu textbook corporation, 2010
Way of continuous check of knowledge in the course of semester
- Checking students‘ knowledge in discussions and questions in the seminar. Encouraging students to be active in the process of identifying problems, looking for their solutions and interpreting results
- Tests including calculation problems and/or selected factual knowledge.
- Course work. First, students have to orientate in the given data, then they assess them, select relevant information and present their solution. The result is presented in the final form of the course work.
