Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

Students will get an idea of how electrotechnics is applied in mining industry, to a degree necessary for Mining Faculty graduates. The aim is that in their future careers, as users of electrical equipment or managers, students can understand some problems that have to do with their functioning. Students will also learn more about protection against injury in electrotechnics and with the most important legal regulations that they may encounter in their future careers. Another aim is to teach students where and how to find the necessary information (literature, norms, the Internet...)

Summary

The aim of the subject is to acquaint students with basics of electrical engineering, which are applied on distributions of electric energy in open-casts, their design, dimenzioning and operating. It also acquaints students with basis of electric drives in open-casts and with possible methods of these devices protection against electric shock injury.

Compulsory literature:

Electrical engineering in mining, Stanislav Kocman, VŠB-TU Ostrava.

Subject syllabus:

- Technical standardization. - Technical documentation in electrical engineering. - Electric devices, classification, safety requirements. - Power networks. - Transmision and distribution of electric energy. - Dimensioning of electric lines. - Circuit fusing. - Ensuring of power supply, reserve power supplies. - Kinds of external influences according ČSN 330300 and ČSN 332000-3 standards. - Mounting, cooling, coverage of electric machines. - Contact and non-contact logic control. - Electrical apparatus for explosive atmospheres - Power distribution in mines. - Power distribution in quarries.
