Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The aim of the course is to get theoretical knowledge enabling a good orientation in the principles of operation of electric drives and practical skills in their application. The obtained knowledge is part of the Bachelor knowledge who comes into contact with the applications of electric drives.

Summary

This course focuses on understanding the basic principles, composition and functions of DC and AC electric drives. The course content is based on knowledge of electronics, electrical machines, mechatronic systems and cybernetics.

Way of continuous check of knowledge in the course of semester

Verification of study: Checking test TEST No.1, TEST No.2 (see exercise) Conditions for credit: Obligatory participation in laboratory exercises. In general 3 laboratory exercises are assessed max. 20 points. Obligatory finishing of 2 tests in regular term. Test is assessed max. 10 points, i. e. max. 20 points from tests. At repetition test is assessed only 80% achieved points. Student can obtain from exercises max. 40 points, for conferment inclusion it is necessary achieve min. 20 points.

Subject syllabus:

Lectures: Elements of control circuit – systems and controllers. The method of standard forms of transfer Transfers and transient characteristics. Structures of controlled drive. The control quality, effects of secondary controlled loops. The design methods of structures of controlled drives. The methods of standard forms of transfer. DC controlled drives. The static and dynamic behaviour of a separately-excited DC motor with voltage variation. Static and dynamic features of action parts - Ward-Leonard rotary converter, thyristor controlled rectifier and DC/DC converter. The armature current control of separately-excited DC motor. The speed control of separately-excited DC motor with and without secondary current loop. AC drives with induction motors. Frequency control. Quantities waveforms at frequency control. Scalar control of induction motor drives. Vector control of induction motor drives. Direct torque control. Optimal control of induction motor drives. AC drives with synchronous motors with field winding and permanent magnet excitation. Vector control of synchronous motors. Exercises: Examples of typical dynamic elements and their description in time area. Open control circuit, closed control circuit. The control quality. Using the optimal module method and symetrical optimum method. DC controlled drives. The solution at different types of converters. Test no.1. Analysis and synthesis of current loop of separately-excited DC motor. Test no.2. Analysis and synthesis of speed loop of separately-excited DC motor. Laboratories: Experimental diagnostic of armature-current control of a separately-excited DC motor Experimental diagnostic of a speed control with a separately-excited DC motor Projects: Results of laboratory work processing: Experimental diagnostic of armature-current control of a separately-excited DC motor (10 hours) Experimental diagnostic of a speed control with a separately-excited DC motor (10 hours)
