Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The main aim of this subject is acquisition of theoretical knowledges and practical experiences in area of microprocessor control systems, their design and application. Acquired piece of knowledge is a part of electrical engineers knowledges, that is interested in application of modern microprocessor systems in electric drives.

Summary

Subject increases basic knowledge of microprocessor technics. It deals with excellent knowledge of modern microcomputer control systems and design problems of each parts of microcomputer systems for applications in industrial electronics.

Way of continuous check of knowledge in the course of semester

Verification of study: Control tests No.1 and No.2. Conditions for credit: Attendance on laboratory education (100%). Report submission from laboratory exercises. Attendance on control tests. Acquisition of 25 points (minimum). Point rating of exercises - maximum 40 points, test T1 - max. 10 points,test T2 - max. 10 points, laboratory reports = max. 20 points.

Subject syllabus:

Lectures: Requirements for microprocessor control system, block diagram of single processor and multiprocessor system, description of basic blocks. Sensors of quantities - current sensors, voltage sensors, speed and position sensors. Analog signal and its adjustment - amplifiers, limiters, analog memories and analog multiplexers. Hardware solution of the microcomputer with different types of microprocessors, practical examples. Digital processing of input signals. A/D converters, D/A converters and their practical solutions, block diagrams, circuit diagrams. Digital processing of output signals from incremental position encoder. Block of position and speed estimation, estimation of rotation direction, multiplying of pulses, counter of pulses. Block and circuit diagrams. Output signals processing. Board of switching pulses, block and circuit diagrams. Communication with superior system and keyboard. Serial interface. Block diagram of communication unit. Development resources for design of application software. Assembly of program modules, mutual relations. Realization of program blocks for vector controlled AC drive with induction motor (IM). Principle of vector control with IM. Design of speed control structure. Realization of software blocks for speed control structure with IM. Reading of A/D data. P, I, PI controllers. Current control. Speed control. Block of oriented quantities calculation. Compare and vector pulse with modulation. Digital signal processors. Transputers. Structure, properties, applications. Programmable systems. Structure, programming. Basic applications in industrial electronics. Exercises: Singlechip microcomputer, 16-bit microprocessor - summary. Adjustment of analog and digital signals for microcomputer control systems. Development resources for design of application software. Communication with superior system. Test No.1. - theme repetition, assignment of semester project. Integration of program blocks into the control structure. Test No. 2. - theme repetition. Laboratories: Processing of analog and digital signals - laboratory exercise. Controllers, program blocks, measurement of transient responses - laboratory exercise. Program blocks for electrical controlled drives - laboratory exercise. Structure of speed control - laboratory exercise. Projects: Semester project - hardware and software design for microcomputer control systém (14 hours). Laboratory reports (14 hours).
