Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The student will get an overview enabling a good orientation in the principles of operation of servo drives, the ability to independently analyse and synthesize parts of servo drives and be able to apply the acquired knowledge in the practical design of servo drives.

Summary

The course focuses on the basic functions of servo drives (DC motor actuators, electronically commutated motors, stepper motors, AC servo motors, reluctance motor actuators etc.). The course content is based on knowledge of power electronics, mechatronic systems, electric controlled drives and control theory.

Compulsory literature:

Boldea, I., Nasar, S. A.: Electric Drives. Third Edition, CRC Press, 2016. ISBN 978-1-4987-4820-9.

Recommended literature:

Way of continuous check of knowledge in the course of semester

Continuous study check: Control tests - TEST 1, TEST 2 (see exercises) Credit conditions: Mandatory attendance at laboratory classes. Total of 2 laboratory exercises rated with a maximum of 10 points, i.e. a total of maximum 20 points from the laboratory exercise. Submission of measurement protocols in regular time = 1 week after the end of the measurement. Mandatory passing of 2 control tests in regular time. Each test is graded with a maximum of 10 points, i.e. a total of max. 20 points from the tests. Correction of one test is possible. In case of taking the test in other than the regular date and correcting the test, only 80% of the points obtained will be evaluated. A maximum of 40 points can be obtained from the exercises. A minimum score of 5 points is required for each test and protocol for obtaining credit.
