Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

Intention of the course is to get the knowledge of the electronic circuit functions, of power semiconductor converters and of power electronic applications. The course gives the ability for independent analyse and synthesis of control electronic circuits and of modern power electronic systems. This acquired ability is the assumption for successful work at the dissertation topic.

Summary

The course focuses on improving the knowledge about the features of modern semiconductor parts, about electronic control circuits and modern power semiconductor systems. The course is based on the basic knowledge from electronics and power electronics, from theory of electric circuits and theoretical electrotechnics.

Subject syllabus:

Modern power semiconductor parts and their application - bipolar power transistors, IGBT, GTO thyristors. The DC - switches. The DC - converters. Design of control DC - converters circuits. The voltage - type converters, output current and voltage analyse. The current - type converters, output voltage and current analyse, applications, control circuits. Frequency converters with voltage / current - type DC link, cykloconverters. Modern ways how to control the output voltage and current of frequency converters. Realisation of control frequency converters circuits.
