Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The target of this subject is getting a theoretical knowledge of modern electrical drives and practical experiences from their applications.

Summary

The subject focuses on the basic knowledge of principles, design and operations of DC and AC controlled electrical drives. The prerequisites would be courses on electronics, power electronics, electrical machines and control theory.

Subject syllabus:

Kinematics and mechanics of electrical drives. Warming and energetics of electrical drives. Characteristics of electrical drives with controlled rectifiers and DC/DC converters. Mathematical models of separately excited DC motor, DC series motor and converters. Structures of DC drives with controlled rectifiers and DC/DC converters. Characteristics of AC drives with induction and synchronous motors. Frequncy control of induction motors. Drives with electronically commutated motors, step motors and switched reluctance motors. Structures of AC drives with induction and synchronous motors. Vector control and direct torque control of AC drives. Analyse and synthesis of regulation drives .
