The goal is to attract and acquire knowledge to enable good orientation in the field of diagnostics and testing of motor vehicles. The knowledge gained forms part of general knowledge of electrical engineer especially if focused on applications in the automotive electronics industry.

Subject syllabus:

LECTURES 1. Structures of motor vehicle data networks 2. Data sensing, components, sensors, sensors of required values, actuators 3. Serial diagnostics of motor vehicles, equipments for serial diagnostics, measuring procedures 4. Parallel diagnostics of motor vehicles, tools for parallel diagnostics, measurement procedures, use of brand and multibrand diagnostic instruments 5. Diagnosis of gasoline engines and exhalation measurements 6. Diagnosis of diesel engines and exhalation measurements 7. Diagnostics of fuel system of gasoline and diesel engines 8. Diagnostics of chassis for motor vehicles and vehicle brakes 9. Electronic systems on-board diagnostics 10. The onboard diagnostics EOBD, EOBD system, technical system design EOBD, legislation 11. The board EOBD diagnostics, diagnostic connector, communication, data transmission 12. The board EOBD diagnostics, error codes 13. Ecological and economic aspects of the diagnosis of motor vehicles 14. Trends in the diagnosis of motor vehicles EXERCISE 1. Starting the first exercise (training, using principles used equipment, exercise overview) 2. Vehicle roller chassis dynamometer Nussbaum PCT300 (2WD), MAHA LPS3000 (4WD) - ballast driving simulation simulation, verification board indicators, performance measurement and torque petrol vehicles 3. Vehicle third roller chassis dynamometer Nussbaum PCT300 (2WD), MAHA LPS3000 (4WD) load driving simulation simulation, verification of board indicators, performance measurement and torque of diesel engines 4. Analysis of qualitative, quantitative and mixed power management control engine (analyzes on vehicles using cylindrical test Nussbaum PCT300 (2WD) and MAHA LPS3000 (4WD)) 5. Analysis of lambda regulation (analysis principles to the vehicle), TEST # 1 6. Analysis of the fuel injection depending on the engine temperature (analysis principles to the vehicle) 7. Diagnosis of power steering equipments (analysis principles on models) 8. Measuring of exhalations from petrol and diesel engines Analyses ninth passenger vehicle air conditioning system (analysis of the vehicle) 10. Automotive diagnostic device to serial diagnostics (OBD-II, brand and multi-brand devices) - troubleshooting, read measured values, basic settings, adaptation, coding, TEST # 2 12. Automotive diagnostic apparatus for parallel diagnostics (digital oscilloscopes, signal generators, automotive, multimeters), measurement procedures and principles 13. Automotive diagnostics - search for unknown faults on vehicle 1 14. Automotive diagnostics - search for unknown faults on vehicle 2 Note. Except the first introductory exercise is filling consists of practical analyzes on models and vehicles.
