The goal is to attract and acquire knowledge to enable good orientation in the field of diagnostics and testing of motor vehicles. The knowledge gained forms part of general knowledge of electrical engineer especially if focused on applications in the automotive electronics industry.

LECTURES 1. Structures of motor vehicle data networks 2. Data sensing, components, sensors, sensors of required values, actuators 3. Diagnosis of gasoline engines and exhalation measurements 4. Diagnosis of diesel engines and exhalation measurements 5. The onboard diagnostics EOBD, EOBD system, technical system design EOBD, legislation 6. The onboard diagnostics EOBD, error codes 7. The onboard diagnostics EOBD, diagnostic connector, communication, data transmission 8. UDS diagnostic communication protocol - technical system design 9. Management of self-diagnostics of the internal combustion engine control unit - monitoring function 10. Management of self-diagnostics of the internal combustion engine control unit - diagnostic services 11. Management of self-diagnostics of the internal combustion engine control unit - functional tests of emission systems 12. Diagnostics of chassis for motor vehicles and vehicle brakes 13. Ecological and economic aspects of the diagnosis of motor vehicles 14. Trends in the diagnosis of motor vehicles EXERCISES 1. Starting the first exercise (training, using principles used equipment, exercise overview) 2. Vehicle roller chassis dynamometer - ballast driving simulation, verification board indicators, measurement of power and torque of vehicles with a gasoline engine 3. Vehicle roller chassis dynamometer - ballast driving simulation, verification board indicators, measurement of power and torque of vehicles with a diesel engine 4. Serial diagnostics of motor vehicles - use of OEM and multi-brand diagnostic devices 5. Serial diagnostics of motor vehicles (OBD-II, OEM and multi-brand devices) - troubleshooting, read measured values, basic settings, adaptation, coding, TEST No. 1 6. Diagnostics of sensor signal processing circuits and analysis of the communication protocol 7. Analysis of the UDS communication protocol on the experimental vehicle - establishing a diagnostic session 8. Analysis of the UDS communication protocol on the experimental vehicle - reading the fault memory 9. Creation of diagnostic algorithms using a programmable unit - monitoring function of sensors 10. Creation of diagnostic algorithms using a programmable unit - monitoring function of actuators 11. Creation of diagnostic algorithms using a programmable unit - UDS communication protocol 12. Automotive diagnostic apparatus for parallel diagnostics (digital oscilloscopes, signal generators, automotive, multimeters), measurement procedures and principles, TEST No. 2 13. Automotive diagnostics - searching for an unknown faults on vehicle 1 14. Automotive diagnostics - searching for an unknown faults on vehicle 2 Note. Except the first introductory exercise is filling consists of practical analyzes on models and vehicles.
