Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The aim of the subject is to familiarize the students with practical aspects of design and maintenance of switching systems. After the subject completion students will be able to understand the principles of design, modeling and deployment of modern switching systems and analyze the qualitative parameters of multimedia communications. Moreover, students will gain the fundamental knowledge on the SW-defined networks.

Summary

The subject focuses on the modern technologies in the field of network infrastructure and develops the students` understanding of the related technologies from the design, simulation and qualitative evaluation point of view. The subject consists of four distinct topics - signaling systems, discrete events simulation and processing , qualitative evaluation of multimedia systems and software defined networking. The theoretical knowledge from lectures is supported by the practical exercises focused on students` individual work.
