Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
Understand the structure, design and function of the radio network. Learning outcomes are set so that students are able to identify, apply and solve problems in the field of cellular radio networks.

Students will be familiar with the structure and principle of mobile radio networks. Attention will be given to voice and data communication.

Subject syllabus:
Lectures:
1. Introduction to mobile radio networks, propagation of radio waves in mobile networks.
2. Mobile systems 1st generation - NMT, mobile system 2nd generation - GSM system (architecture, physical layer, burst, power-time template, time and frequency synchronization, measurement report).
3. GSM system (signal processing, information security, authentication, localization in GSM, data transmissions CSD, HSCSD, GPRS, EDGE).
4. 3rd generation mobile systems - UMTS system (architecture, physical layer, the concept of CHIP channelization and scrambling code, macrodiversity).
5. UMTS system (radio channel measurement, Ec / Io calculation, RSCP, handover).
6. UMTS system (HSPA, HSPA +, HARQ technique, CQI, multi carrier).
7. 4th generation mobile systems - LTE system (architecture, physical layer eUTRAN, OFDM, SC-FDMA).
8. LTE system (fast scheduling, cyclic prefix, radio channel properties, RSRP calculation, RSRQ, synchronization).
9. LTE system (protocol architecture, channel mapping, LTE Advanced Rel. 14, MIMO, Carrier Aggregation, VoLTE).
10. 5th generation mobile systems - 5G system (SBA, NSA, SA architecture, network slicing, differences from LTE).
11. System 5G - physical layer NR (frequency bands FR1-FR2, mapping, scalable OFDM, CORESET, Massive MIMO).
12. 5G system (protocol architecture, non-roaming and home-routed architecture, VoNR, VoWiFi), new trends in mobile networks (open solution using openRAN, openAirInterface, OpenStack), 6G.
13. Construction of a base station for mobile systems (used technologies, antenna system, legislation, hygienic limits, optimization).
14. Excursion to the base station of a mobile operator.

1. Content of exercises, acquaintance with laboratory equipment, point evaluation, safety iun laboratory.

4. Practise No.1 - Measurement of power level on the radio part of the base station
5. Practise No.2- Analysis of the physical layer in GSM using the spectrum analyzer R&S FSP-3.
6. Practise No.3 - Localization in mobile networks.
7. Practise No.4 - Analysis of CS connection in GSM technology using R&S CMU-200 analyzer.
8. Practise No.5 - Measurement of radio channel parameters of UMTS and LTE technology using a measuring phone with TEMS Pocket application
9. Practise No.6 - Analysis of the 5G NR radio interface using the Keysight Nemo Outdoor 5G tool
10. Practise No.7 - Analysis of the physical layer in GSM using the spectrum analyzer R&S FSP-3
11. Practise No.8 - Analysis of the physical layer of mobile communication systems using the R&S FSH-8 analyzer.
