Understand the function of terminal communication devices. Orientation in the history of communication devices. Learning outcomes are set so that students are able to identify, apply and solve problems in the field of communication terminals.

Summary

Development of telecommunication networks in the world and the Czech Republic, characteristics of telecommunication networks, quality requirements for telecommunication networks and terminal equipment, quality of service, losses, readiness, reliability, radio and television network, VDS, VRS, JSSN networks, standardization and homologation of telecommunication equipment, measurement parameters of terminal devices, attestation control, SW and HW modifications of terminal devices, Bluetooth protocols and profiles, display devices, image capture devices, sensors in mobile devices, MDM, security, SIM, E-SIM.

Subject syllabus:

Lectures: 1. Development of telecommunication networks in the world and the Czech Republic. Basic characteristics of telecommunication networks. Types of terminal equipment. 2. Development of terminal devices. Stages of development of mobile terminals. Development of mobile operating systems. 3. Terminal equipment as part of network aspects. Block diagram of mobile end devices. Description of the radio part of mobile terminals. 4. Basic quality requirements for terminal equipment. Architecture of processors used in mobile end devices. Data storage - types of memories and storage devices, possibilities of expanding data space for telecommunication devices. 5. Cable technologies used in data transmission terminals. Sensors located in mobile devices. Speakers and microphones in mobile end devices. 6. Registration of terminal devices in the telecommunications network. SIM card and its structure, capacity and technologies associated with the SIM card. SIM card content security. 7. Types of display devices (displays) used in mobile devices. Types of image sensors used in mobile end devices 8. Types of input interfaces for telecommunication terminals. Batteries used in mobile terminals. Power supply of telecommunication terminal equipment. 9. Standardization and homologation of telecommunication equipment. Measurement of terminal equipment parameters, attestation control. 10. Mobile operating systems - Division of mobile operating systems. Stages of development of mobile operating systems. 11. Detailed description of mobile operating systems - system structure, system options, system security, system openness. 12. Development of applications for mobile devices - programming languages, development environment, multimedia systems for mobile devices. 13. Description of wireless technologies designed for short distance data transmission between mobile terminals. 14. Terminal equipment for radio and television networks. Description of television networks, the possibility of receiving television broadcasts in mobile terminals. Exercises: 1. Introductory exercises, introduction to the laboratory, safety, project assignment 2. Introduction to end devices, updating systems in mobile devices, the possibility of connecting to a computer 3. Data transfers, AT commands 4. Wi-Fi Tethering and USB Tethering - configuration, speed measurement, comparison 5. GPS and A-GPS technology - comparison, configuration, installation of necessary applications 6. Bluetooth technology - verification and practical testing of all modes of Bluetooth technology, connection of two mobile devices or a mobile device and a personal computer, or Bluetooth audio device 7. Test 1, Android - system options - gaining "root" access, unlocking the "bootloader", installing support for other services 8. Installation and testing of alternative mobile operating systems on end devices 9. Installation and testing of desktop operating systems on end mobile devices 10. Access to service menu in end mobile devices, MDM systems. 11. Analysis of NFC technology, determination of transmission speeds and transmission security 12. Testing of MHL, USB-OTG, Wi-Di technology 13. Presentation of semester works 14. Test 2, Assessment test
