Summary

The subject Broadband Networks concerns about three areas, that are crucial for recent telecommunication networks in the world of the Internet. Firstly, it will be described the MPLS (Multiprotocol Label Switching) technology and its applications MPLS – Traffic Engineering and MPLS VPN. Further, it will be paid attention to the data communication security in the Internet using different types of VPNs (Virtual Private Networks) with the intention of the most widely used type of this technology - IPsec VPN (Internet Protocol Security Virtual Private Network). The third area of interest of this subject is the QoS (Quality of Service) problematics and its implementation using different QoS tools.
