Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
The course encompasses dimensioning of network capacities applying queuing theory. The Student is able to apply knowledge with a design of telecommunication networks or call centers.

Summary
The course includes important topics from point of view of telecommunication networks dimensioning, especially Kendall's classification of queuing systems and methods of queuing system behavior calculation.

Description of the queuing problem and Little's formulas.
Kendall's notation.
Markov chains - DTMC and CTMC, transition state diagrams, transition matrix.
M/M/N/0 and M/M/N/infinity, Erlang B, Erlang C and Engset models.
The practical design of call centre calculation, dimensioning number of agents.
Design of calculation in multistage call centre.
