Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
The goal is to manage the field of audiovisual communication systems on such level in order to be able to implement the multimedia services on particular open-source project.

Summary
The course IP multimedia systems covers the filed of communication systems which enable the audiovisual content transport in IP network and the course is oriented especially on perspective protocols. The practical part is not omitted and participant get acquainted with longterm open-source projects.

Speech and video coding, principles and features the most used codecs.
Media transport protocols and security.
RAS, H.245 and Q.931 Signaling, their procedures, DRC and GRC models.
SIP protocol, SIP architecture elements, SIP addressing and the main ideas in RFC 3261.
SIP Methods, responses, header structure, transactions and dialogs.
SDP media description, offer/answer model.
Network architecture design based on SIP.
Multimedia communication system open-source projects - Asterisk, Kamailio, GNUGK.
