Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
Extended knowledges of power electronics for students, which are specialized in control drives, design of semiconductor converters and other fields of industrial electronic.

Summary
Subject Power Electronics II develops problems of Power Electronics I. It orients on better knowledge modern semiconductor components and their application principle. Subject Power Electronics II develops knowledges of semiconductor converters theory.

Subject syllabus:
Lectures:
Bipolar power transistor - modeling of characters, Darlington connection, parallel connection, power switching of inductive load, excitation pulses - kinds of creating.
Unipolar transistors, IGBT, MCT - modeling of characters, surrogate diagram, method s of formation excitation pulses, parallel connection.
Mode of semiconductor switching - hard switching, soft switching, cooperation witch neutral diode, switch on in zero current or voltage.
Safety circuits of semiconductor switches - RC, RCD, characteristics, spread of losses.
Analysis of output voltage and current of controlled rectifiers.
Mains and load - influences on rectifiers.
Back influences of rectifiers to mains, power scheme.
Control characteristics of rectifiers.
Pulse converters, modes of control influences to load. Analyze of output voltage and current.
Principles of resonance converters.
Power circuits of voltage inverter, resonance converters.
Power circuit of current inverter, four quadrant connecting of frequency converters.
Modern structure power schemes and control algorithms of frequency converters.
Requirements on passive elements of power circuits.
Exercises:

Dimensioning of coolers for without potential modules.
Dimensioning of coolers with air refrigeration for switch off components at low and high frequency areas.
