Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
Teach-in students with applications of power electronics in selected areas as e.g. applications in pulse source and UPS, weld sources, regulators of alternate power and applications of drives in traffic.
Teaching methods
Summary
Power electronics is branch, which now intensively penetrates to all technical areas. Practical uses principle of changing electrical power by semiconductor components. Needs knowledges from given area (e.g. power engineering, traffic, hardware computers) but also from related areas as e.g. applied electronics or microchip technologies. Subject complements knowledges all student of electronics, power electronics and electrical drives.

Phase control of alternate power - dimmers and control lighting and temperature in industrial and consumable electronics.
Alternate controllers of revolutions of commutates and asynchronous motors.
Switching sources of direct voltages, switching stabilizers - porous and block converter, effectiveness of switching sources.
Switching sources - electronics transformer, special sources.
Standby and charging electronics sources, sources at computational techniques.
Source for arc weld - methods controls, technological requirements, circuit solutions.
Source for resistance weld - technological requirements, examples of circuit solution.
Semiconductor converters for middle and high frequency heating.
Semiconductor converters for compensation of power factor at energetic, pulse control of consumption.
Converter for transmission power at energetic.
