Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

Obtaining of theoretical knowledges from construction of semiconductor converters areas and practical experiences with their design and applications. Learned information extends the knowledge base of electrical engineer, especially if his topic is aimed in area of application power electrics systems.

Teaching methods

Summary

Subject acquaints the students with the basic procedure and method for construction design semiconductor converters. It acquaints with the basic range of components and their construction style. It indicates different converters in commonplace industry and specially, e.g. traction style.

Way of continuous check of knowledge in the course of semester

Verification of study: Checktests TEST no. 1, TEST no. 2 (s. exercises) Conditions for credit: Project elaboration (evaluated max. 20 points). Compulsory participation on two tests (evaluated each for 10 points). Exercises (max. 40 points). Minimum amount of received points is 25.

Subject syllabus:

Lectures: Demands for construction power semiconductor converters. Power semiconductor components and blocks, no potential modules. Power losses components and their refrigeration. Systems air refrigeration. Systems fluid refrigeration. Modern frigorific systems, evaporation refrigeration, thermic tube. Magnetic circuit converters. Capacitors for power electronics. Secure and safety circuit semiconductors converters. Input and output circuit semiconductors, circuit adaptation. Space out components with respect at mutual thermo impact and electromagnetic interference. Construction solution semiconductors converters. Dependability and diagnostic semiconductor converters. Installation and service power semiconductor converters. Exercises: Separate power semiconductors converters, style determines demand. Design power scheme with use standard world range semiconductor components. Detailed calculation of power losses components. Calculations of air cooling systems with own and forced circulation air. Calculations of water and oil cooling systems. Calculations of special cooling systems. TEST no. 1. Power losses and cooling systems Dimensioning of air reactors and inductors with ferromagnetic center for power electronics. Choice and dimensioning capacitors for power electronics of range world producer. Design of protection circuit for semiconductor converters. Styles of electromagnetic protection by semiconductor converters. TEST no. 2. Passive components for power converters. Design of selected type of converters or junction. Design of selected type of converters or junction. Design of selected type of converters or junction. Collective act as an opponent design construction solution. Projects: Draught of chosen power electronic converters construction for the branch of industrial electronic. Collective discussion of suggested projects.
