Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The purpose of the subject is to obtain theoretical knowledge of the area of controlled electrical drives and practial experience from their applications. The obtained information becomes part of general knowledge of electrical engineer, especially if he is focused on application of electrical drives.

Teaching methods

Summary

The subject is focused on the understanding of the importance, basic principles, structure and function of controlled electrical drives. The content of this subject is based on the knowledge of the electronics, power electronics and electric machines and theory of control.

Way of continuous check of knowledge in the course of semester

Verification of study: Checking test TEST No.1, TEST No.2 (see exercise) Conditions for credit: Obligatory participation in laboratory exercises. In general 3 laboratory exercises are assessed max. 6 points, i. e. max. 18 points from laboratory exercises. Obligatory finishing of 2 tests in regular term. Test is assessed max. 11 points, i. e. max. 22 points from tests. At repetition test is assessed only 80% achieved points. Student can obtain from exercises max. 40 points, for conferment inclusion it is necessary achieve min. 25 points.

Subject syllabus:

Lectures: Definition of the controlled electrical drive. Transient characteristics. Stability and damping of controlled drives. Structures of controlled drive. The optimalization, effects of secondary controlled loops. The design methods of structures of controlled drives. The methods of standard forms of transfer. D.c. controlled drives. The dynamic behaviour of a d.c. motor with voltage and magnetic flow variation. Static and dynamic features of action parts. The current control. The speed control with and without secondary current loop. A.C. drives with asynchronous motors. Scalar control of asynchronous motors. Vector control of asynchronous motors. A.C. drives with synchronous motors. Vector control of synchronous motors. A.C. drives with synchronous permanent magnet motors. Electrical controlled drives with EC and step motors. Exercises: Examples of typical dynamic elements and their description in time area. Open control circuit, closed control circuit. The method of standard forms of transfer. Using the optimal module method and symetrical optimum method. Test no.1. Analysis and synthesis of current loop. Analysis and synthesis of speed loop with current loop. Analysis and synthesis of speed loop without current loop. Test no.2. Controlled drive with asynchronous motors. Controlled drive with synchronous motors. Laboratories: Experimental diagnostic of armature-current control of a separately-excited d.c. machine. Experimental diagnostic of a speed control with a separately-excited d.c. machine. Controlled drive with asynchronous motors. Projects: Results of laboratory work processing: 1 - Experimental diagnostic of armature-current control of a separately-excited d.c. machine. 2 - Experimental diagnostic of a speed control with a separately-excited d.c. machine. 3 - Controlled drive with asynchronous motors.
