The priority of Computer Basics they are a skills how to use software on PC. The students will learn how to work in MS Windows, Word, Excel, Mathcad, Matlab etc.

Summary

The Computer Basics course is recommended for students majoring in biomedical ingeneering. The course consists of the following blocks: operating system Windows, computer nets, text editors, spreadsheet programs, ready-to-go mathematical software with graphical user interface or computer graphics. The students learn how to use computer for their study and especially solve matematical problems in different software environment.

Way of continuous check of knowledge in the course of semester

Credit is awarded based on the processing of correspondence tasks. In total there are eight tasks together for 100 points. The credit is needed to get at least 51 points.

Subject syllabus:

1. The organization of course CB (Computer Basics). Presentation of examples from the first topic: Mathcad. 2.-4. Mathcad - program for mathematical solution, solving any matematical problems.Intervals, Matrices, Vectors, Equations, Systems of Equations, Graphs, 3D Graphs, Symbolic solving, ... 5. Matlab - program for scientific and technical computing. Presentation of simply usage for editing and solving mathematical problems. 6.-7. MS Excel - spreadsheet. Editing of tables, solving and drawing graphs, solving equations, etc. 8. Windows - Operating system. Basics works in Windows. Modification of system (Control Panels, searching,...), changing data between aplications. Another aplications as Calculator, Paint, miniaplications,... 9. Writing technical texts, Author's law 10. Word - text editors and procesors, editation styled, page's numbering, tables, pictures, drawing, writing and edit of equations, ... 11. Basic of Graphic. Definition DPI (Dots Per Inch), differences between raster and vector graphic. DPI of monitor, computer, system and printer. Graphical formats. 12. Power Point - Presentation in MS Office 13. Internet - viewers as MS Internet Explorer, Mozilla Fire Fox, Google Chrome, Safari and Opera. Differences and usage. Computer exercises: First Getting to know the PC in the classroom, network logon, SW location, the possibility of using PC and software, safety training Second Practice in the environment MATHCAD (ver. 15 and Prime) 3rd Practice in the environment MATHCAD (ver. 15 and Prime) 4th Practice in the environment MATHCAD (ver. 15 and Prime) 7th Practice in MATLAB 5th Practice in MS Excel (Office 2007 or higher) 6th Practice in MS Excel (Office 2007 or higher) 8th Practice in MS Windows, Paint, Windows Explorer, ... 9th Practice in MS Word (Office 2007 or higher) 10th Practice in MS Word (Office 2007 or higher) 11th Graphics (MS WORD - drawing, Windows - Paint) 12th Graphics (MS WORD - drawing, Windows - Paint) 13th Internet, MS Power Point 14th The final test
