Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The goal of this lessons is to familiarize students with basic processes in the hospital with exercises on hospital information system. To acquaint students with HIS (Hospital Information Systems) practically. Students learn by working with the installation of NIS containing test data to work with the system from the perspective of users with different rights and in terms of system administrators with lower powers. Students will gain knowledge about the basis of database resources and to become familiar with the individual modules NIS. The xpert systems in Health care will be introduced too.

Summary

The course lectures and practical exercises in the hospital information system, a practical introduction to model the NIS and its technical solution. It includes various modules of hospital information system, a single patient identification, medication administration records, ordering and business intelligence area.

Way of continuous check of knowledge in the course of semester

Laboratory tasks carried out during the semester in exercises. Written exams on knowledges from laboratory tasks. Final written exam on knowledges from lectures. It is required mandatory participation in seminars at least 80% from past lessons.

Subject syllabus:

Lectures 1 Information systems for healthcare facilities. 2 The organizational structure of hospitals and its relationship to hospital information systems. The definition of the rights of individual users in the NIS. 3 Fundamentals of database systems from the perspective of the NIS database resources. Introduction to basic SQL commands, database structure. 4 During the process of hospitalization from the perspective of the IS. Organization from the perspective of the hospital and its projection into the NIS. 5 Processes in the hospital organization - laboratory information systems. Options and ways to link with other modules NIS. 6 The systems work with image data in NIS. Methods of obtaining, storing and providing video and high-volume data in the process of the hospital and its projection into the NIS. 7 Administrative NIS components - modules of health insurance statistics modules. 8. Expert system in Health care Exercise 1 Introduction to practical exercises in hospital information systems. Introduction to NIS used by the teaching. 2 Processes in the NIS database - an example and work with the NIS from the perspective of a programmer 3 NIS modules for outpatient facilities 4 NIS modules for hospital operations 5 Working with NIS with different rights. Effect of user's rights to work with NIS.
