Summary
In this course, students first learn the general principles in the area of e-health, remote diagnostics and therapy. Other areas are the principles of design and implementation Body Sensor Networks. Students will also be introduced to the basic requirements for the design and implementation of sensors and instrumentation for measuring biological parameters suitable for eHealth applications. The subject also focus on the architecture and features of wireless and wireline networking equipment used in eHeath. In practical exercises, students will learn to operate specialized instruments for eHealth, build their networks and process measurement data for more advanced analysis.

Subject syllabus:
Lectures
Lectures are defined by thematical fields. The lectures are followed by practical exercises in the living laboratory.
1. eHealth principles and use in practice
2. Systems for monitoring of biological systems (requirements, implementation)
3. Systems for monitoring the behavior of monitored persons (movements of persons in the flat, monitoring of activities without the use of camera systems)
4. Determination of movement in living areas and detection of falls (requirements, methods of implementation)
5. Remote therapy devices and systems (requirements, implementation methods, application areas)
6. Home automation systems (sensors, action elements, communication standards, ways of implementation)
Labs
All exercises will be realized in the living laboratory Exercise is the work with the equipment installed in the residential laboratory, familiar with their function and prism, set options, optimization, fault detection in the system.
Thematic areas of practical laborytory exercises are:
1. Getting acquainted with the installed technologies for monitoring the health of the subject (ECG, blood pressure, pulse oximetry, weight, glucose measurement and others)
2. Getting to know the position of the monitored person in the apartment (positioning floors - principles of realism, setting options, camera systems, fiber-based systems, motion sensor based systems - PIR, wireless based systems and triangulation approaches, detection of falls) .
3. Systems for behaviaoral analysis (non-video systems, electricity consumption measurements, water consumption measuremensts)
4. Familiarization with home automation devices (part of the system of home auto-sensing-sensors and action elements, possibilities of their control, configuration, communication standards).
5. Getting acquainted with the means of distance therapy (rehabilitation aids, cognitive training, solving acute health problems).
6. Practical exercises - set up scenarios of operation in a residential laboratory for seniors monitoring
7. Practical exercises - setting of scenarios of operation in a residential laboratory for monitoring people with light demeasure
8. Practical exercises - setting of scenarios of operation in the residential laboratory for monitoring of persons in post-traumatic conditions and reconstruction
9. Failures recognition in installed systems (practical exercise to find the intent of the created faults)
