Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

Learning outcomes of the course is to improve students' practical skills acquired through the popularization of science and technology, for example leisure time activities. Skills and competences within the subject: • identification of the problem and ability to explain the basic principle for solving the problem • ability to work effectively with information sources • ability to use the tools for sub-task solving • ability to manage the solution of a sub-task within a lesson • ability to communicate and improve soft skills and presentations • ability of a didactic approach to solving and explaining a technical problem

Summary

The subject of Popularization of Science and Technology builds on the knowledge and skills obtained by the student during his studies and actively outside his own studying. This knowledge and skills should be passed on by the lessons learned during the periodical practical activities aimed especially at children and young people interested in technical education. Furthermore, the student's task is to engage in popularization activities and possible research, which are presented to the general public by the University, respectively the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science together with practical demonstrations related to teaching and research at the Faculty. Active participation of the student in the popularization of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics is supposed. Student will learn the correct methods of lecturing and he can improve his soft skills in teaching and presentation. Further, the student obtains the knowledge of communication and especially the correct expression in specifying the technical problem at the basic principle level.

Compulsory literature:

Local safety regulations of a laboratory or classroom where leisure time activities and applied research are practiced Operating order of the laboratory or classroom, where the teaching of leisure time activities and applied research are practiced Teaching materials in the form of a basic curriculum and elaborated learning texts

Recommended literature:

Possibility of popularizing science and technology in leisure time activities is based on knowledge and literature from at least some of the following specializations: • basics of mathematics, • basics of physics • design of mechanisms and machine parts • EV3, Scratch, • C-SHARP, JAVA, ROBOT-C, PLC, • fundamentals of electrical engineering, electronics design, electronics development, • sensors, measuring instruments • basics of didactics For more information of learning topics, see Web page: http://krouzkykybernetiky.vsb.cz

Way of continuous check of knowledge in the course of semester

The student can be checked during the course of leisure time activities The student has to keep up the allocated curriculum of leisure time activities taking into account the knowledge, skills and age of participants in leisure time activities The student is responsible for teaching, for the entrusted property materials and for the participants during the course The student is responsible for assigned application work The student confirms by signing the compliance and the realization of the given instruction The student organizes the final competition or the final assignment with the evaluation and he delivers of the results

Safety and regulatory training in the laboratory for teaching leisure time activities and applied research Training of participants in the teaching of leisure time activities and applied research The content of the lessons in leisure time activities according to the age and the given research topic Finalizing the training by the competition or by the final task for the participants with result presenting the results
