Managing essential emergency procedures and measures in case of a sudden deterioration in health due to illness or injury. First aid in situations of imminent threat to life. Orientation in legal and organizational issues of first aid.

Summary

The subject is conceived as a theoretical and practical whole. It focuses on the description and provision of first aid for basic traumatic and non-traumatic conditions with the highest occurrence incidence. Emphasis is placed on conditions endangering basic vital functions and subsequent cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The practical part of the lesson includes first aid exercises. Furthermore, first aid in situations of imminent threat to life and familiarization with the issue of providing health care during disasters. Disaster Medicine, introduction to general characteristics and addressing emergencies and crisis situations. Organization of accidental care in the Czech Republic. Orientation in legal and organizational issues of first aid.

Subject syllabus:

First aid 1. General principles of first aid, security of aid, basic first-aid procedures, change in health status 2. Emergency calls for health impairment 3. Assessment of basic life functions 4. First aid for unconsciousness 5. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (children / adults) 6. Shock conditions 7. Basic trauma (wounds and bleeding, head injuries, chest injury, abdominal injuries, limb injuries, spinal and spinal cord injuries) 8. Thermal trauma 9. First aid for intoxication 10. Basic non-traumatic conditions (acute myocardial infarction, cerebrovascular accident, epilepsy, asthmatic attack, etc.) Disaster Medicine 1. Terminology and typology of disasters 2. Diagnostic and medical treatment of injured at the disaster site and in the hospital facility 3. Chemical and biological damage 4. Principles of treatment, special equipment, decontamination, prevention of disease spread 5. Radiation damage, risk of radiation accidents and leaks 6. War surgery 7. Types of injuries in mass disasters and catastrophes 8. Classification of injured and damage control surgery in the treatment of critical injuries Labs 1. First aid kit, equipment and use 2. Dressing materials and techniques, wound healing and bleeding, immobilization 3. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (children / adults), AED, aspiration materials 4. Positioning of the disabled, transport possibilities 5. Work in simulated cases
