Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

Students will be able to describe and explain develop Assistive Technologies and their applications to remote home care in terms of both diagnostics and therapy, assistive technologies for physically and mentally handicapped people, fitness, effective user interface design for different users, and ways of interpreting results for patients and experts in social services. The student will be able to analyze these systems but also to manage and construct them.

Summary

The subject follows up on previous subjects focused on all areas of assistive technologies and deepens them in a fundamental way. The aim of the subject is to synthesize the knowledge gained so far within the study program in order to implement them in the fields of assistive technologies and social services. The course focuses on the design, implementation and commercial applications of assistive technologies to monitor health status, improve the quality of life of physically and mentally handicapped persons, therapeutic applications, mediate the interaction of the disabled person with the environment and fitness applications. Using the existing knowledge of the students will be lectured and practically practiced all possible applications in the above mentioned areas. The subject is focused both on the design of the individual solutions and on the cooperation within the system units. There will be added the necessary knowledge and skills in the field of body sensor networks, eHealth approaches, new assistive technologies, User interface design and an effective way of interpreting measured data for the user and the expert - social worker or medical doctor.
