The student knows the basic terminology about the human body. The student knows the principles of patient care. The student knows the principles of care for the immobile client. The student is able to define and describe the systems of the human organism. The student can describe the developmental period of the old age with its specifics.

Summary

Learning outcomes of the course unit The aim of the course is to acquaint students with basic concepts in anatomy and nursing. Teaching is focused on basic knowledge of the human body and care of the patient and the principles of care for the household. Students will learn the principles of care for people with reduced ability to self-care and how to properly care for the immobile client.

Subject syllabus:

Basics of anatomy 1 - 5 Introduction to anatomy (classification, methods of anatomy, concepts). General Osteology.  Movement system: Human skeleton, general artology, general myology.  Motion system: Special myology (individual muscle groups).  Blood circulation, blood, heart. Small and large blood circulation.  Respiratory system: upper and lower respiratory tract, lung. Respiratory mechanism, mediastinum. 6 - 10 Digestive system: oral cavity, pharynx, esophagus, stomach, small intestine and fat. Liver, pancreas.     Urinary system: kidney and urinary tract.     The male sexual system.    The female sexual system.    Nervous System I. Dorsal Spine, Peripheral NS. 11 - 14 Nervous System II. Central nervous system, Autonomous NS.       Endocrine system.       The skin system. Senses. Nursing 1- 5. Care for the sick and the care of the household (assistance in managing common tasks, care for the sick, basic hygienic care, adaptation of the environment, health, support of the client's self-sufficiency) 6 - 10. Care for the immobile client (prevention of immobilization syndrome, positioning, nutrition and hydration and emptying, care of the dying client). 11 -14. Aging and aging (art of aging, ideals and reality of old age, changes in mental capabilities).
