Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The aim of the course is to give students a basic overview of audiology, ie basic knowledge of biology, medicine and technology in relation to normal and impaired hearing, all in relation to each other with emphasis on the technical side. An integral part of this goal is also the motivation to work in clinical practice at audiological workplaces.

Experimental work in labs

Summary

The lectures are divided into several areas. At the beginning of the study, students will acquire basic knowledge in the field of acoustics and the principle of technical audiology. In the next course, we will focus on the measurement and diagnostics of auditory functions, including the technical principles of the diagnosis of hearing defects and the principles of devices used in audiology. In the last part, students will get acquainted with the principles of hearing aids (hearing aids, hearing aids for lead bones, implantable hearing systems - cochlear implants and other middle ear implantable systems) and their setting for specific hearing defects. The aim of the course is also to motivate students about the possibility of employment in audiology centers and the opportunity to supplement their knowledge and skills in the field of technical audiology within a certified course, which according to Act 96/2004 Coll. enables the acquisition of the so-called special professional competence Technical Audiologist.
