Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

Explaining basic terms and principles of electromechanical transient effects in electric systems. After passing the subject the student is able to calculate symmetric and asymmetric short-circuit in network, ground connection in electric systems and static and dynamic stability of system. The student is also able to practise dimensioning of electric equipment according to effects of short-circuit currents.

Summary

The subject includes theoretical part of extraordinary states in electric systems. It follows short-circuit in network, ground connection in electric systems and static and dynamic stability. The subject explains basic terms of electromechanical transient effects in electric systems.

Subject syllabus:

Lectures: Definition and distribution of transient effects. Electromagnetic effects in electric systems. Three-pole short-circuit supplied by ideal source. Three-pole short-circuit of synchronous machine. Three-pole short-circuit on connectors of asynchronous motor. Characteristic values of short-circuit in general network. Parameters of elements of electric system in symmetrical systems. Asymmetrical operating status of electric system. Calculation of short-circuit currents in complicated electric systems. Dimensioning of electric equipment according to effects of short-circuit currents. Ground connection in electric systems. Transient overvoltage at ground connection. Electromechanical transient effects in electric systems. Simple system stability. Static stability of simple system. Dynamic stability of simple system. Stability of complicated electric system. Asynchronous operation of electric system. Exercises: Information about the requirements for passing the exercises. Safety considerations. The organization of the work in the labs. Instructions for elaboration of lab task. Calculation of short-circuit currents according to ČSN 33 3020. Calculation of symmetric short-circuit currents. Calculation of asymmetric short-circuit currents. Calculation of short-circuit currents with influence asynchronous motors. Calculation of ground connection in electric systems. Dimensioning of electric equipment according to effects of short-circuit currents. Calculation of static stability of simple system. Calculation of dynamic stability of simple system. Calculation stability of complicated electric system. Laboratory electrical measurement of short-circuit currents at model. Laboratory electrical measurement of ground connection at model. Laboratory electrical measurement at model of electric network 220 kV. Credit exercise.
