Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

After passing the subject the student is able to apply the physical fundaments of heat transfer to different electroheating technological principles. The student is also able to design the way of electric heating and electric warming according to the setting. In the exercise part of the subject the student applies the theoretical findings from the lectures to the calculations of energy transfers in different technological principles. The student demonstrates practical abilities in measuring in labs. The student also demonstrates the ability of designing electroheating equipments in two programs.

Summary

The subject includes theoretical part with applications of physical laws of heat transfer. Next it follows the complex of electric heating. It finally follows the industrial applications of resistance, induction, arc, dielectric, electron and laser principle of use the transformation of electric energy to heat.

Way of continuous check of knowledge in the course of semester

Podmínky udělení zápočtu: Podrobný rozpis bodů z jednotlivých úkolů je v sekci studijní materiály tohoto předmětu na http://fei1.vsb.cz/kat451/studium/f_studium.htm Je nutné: Zůčastnit se měření všech laboratorních úloh a odevzdat je v daném termínu, formě a způsobem. Vypracovat zadané programy a opět je v daném termínu, formě a způsobem odevzdat. Absolvovat daný písemný test. Poznámka: Termín odevzdání jednotlivých úkolů bude vždy určen při jejich zadání. Navíc je třeba splnit ještě následující: Z každého úkolu získat minimálně 1 bod. Každý úkol je možno odevzdat pouze jednou (není možno práci postupně vylepšovat). Opravný test je možno znovu psát pouze v případě, že výsledek prvního je 0 bodů. Poznámka: Pro opravný test a jeho bodování platí jiné podmínky než pro první.

Lectures: The fundaments of heat transfer, conduction, convection and radiation. The analogy between thermal and electric field. Special constructional and material problems, the temperature measuring. The resistance electroheat. Direct and indirect heating. The calculation of heating elements. Electric heating. Infrared radiation. Induction electroheating equipments. The physical principles of heat transfer. Equipments for melting, diathermy and surface heating. Power supplies for induction heating. Dielectric electroheating equipments. Power supplies. Practical use. Microwave heating. Arc furnaces. Physical principles of electric arc. Circle diagram, unbalance of the supply. Electric equipments of industrial arc furnaces. Energy budget of arc furnaces. Welding, power supplies for welding. Plasma electroheating equipments. Examples of practical use. Electron electroheating equipments. Laser electroheating equipments. World research and up-to-date findings in Electroheat. The new results of energy budget research of electric arc at the Department of Electric Power Engineering, VŠB-TUO Exercises: Information about the requirements for passing the exercises.
