Student knows basic of electrical apparatus, electrical machines and drives and electric power supply, dimensioning of apparatus and drives and orientates in main technical dates and makes technical calculations.

Summary

Cours presents the basic principles of electric apparatus, machines and drives and their behaviour in electric power network. Students become familiar with measuring methods and operation states of these appliances.

Subject syllabus:

Lectures: Common ideas-switch apparatus llv+lv, transient effects, importance of protection and switching on-terminology. Fuses-importance of protection, fusing current, time of actuation, energy, restrictive current, design, selection of characteristics. Circuit breaker-action, characteristics, releases, lock, free engine clutch, current limiting circuit breaker, fundamentals of AC current breakdown, performance, selection. Contactors-duty types, contacts design, electromagnetic drive, heat relations. Electromagnets-DC,AC,permanent magnets, characteristics, settings, changes possibilities, applications - relais - magnetic circuit design. Electric machines dividing, materials used in electric machines, design, shapes, protection, cooling. Energy balance, losses. Transformers, types,design, use. Principle of action, operation state, equivalent circuit. ,Asynchronous machines, design and use, principle of use. Starting up, breaking, speed control. nesinusovým napětím či proudem. Synchronous machines, dividing and use. Synchronous motors, use and speed control. Reluctance and hysteresis motors. DC motors. Commutation. Types of DC motors and speed control. Step and linear motors. Electronically commutated DC motors. Dividing and use of static converters in acordance with flow of energy. Rectifiers, types, operation. Single and three phase, controlled and non-controlled. AC converters, frequency converter, AC switches and voltage converters, impedance converters. Negative influence of converters to supplying network and electric motors. Harmonics, EMC. Laboratories: Introduction, safety. Measurement of additional losses, breaking characteristic. Modelling of breaking. Calculation of breaking. Examples of electric machines. Synchronous machine measurement. Transformer measurement. Asynchronous motor measurement. DC machine drive. Modelling and simulation of separated excited DC motor. Asynchronous motor drive with frequency converter. Examples of electric drives. Credit.
