Understand digital signal processing and used data compression. Learning outcomes are set so that the students are able to identify and apply tasks related to the processing of digital signals.

Summary

Fundamental conceptions, electric circuit law and solving methods. passive element characteristics and utilization, passive RC, RL and RLC circuits solving. signal characteristics and description. semiconductor component characteristics and characterization, diodes, transistors, thyristors, operational amplifiers, optoelectronic elements. amplifier parameters and design, switches, flip-flop circuits with transistors, Integrated Circuits and operational amplifier. voltage and current supply characteristics, rectifiers with collective capacitor, linear and impulse voltage rectifiers D/A and A/D converter principles. optoelectronic element application.

Subject syllabus:

Lectures: Theory of DSP. Basic mathematical operations in DSP - correlation, autocorrelation, convolution, transformations, modulations. Fourier transform and inverse Fourier transform. Fast Fourier transform and inverse Fourier transform. Z-transformation in DSP. Digital filters. Infinite impulse response digital filters. Finite impulse response digital filters. Adaptive digital filters. Systems with variable sampling rate. Spectrum estimation. DSP processor architecture. Implementation of DSP algoritms. Exercises: Digital signals and systems (linearity, stability, time-invariance, causality). Test 1 (10 min. - 3 points). DFT, FFT, DCT. Test 2 (10 min. - 3 points). Z-transform, sampling, aliasing, leakage. Test 3 (10 min. - 3 points). IIR filters. Realisation structure.1st project.. FIR filters. Realisation structure. Final test (90 min. - 15 points). 1st project handover (10 bodů). 2nd project handover (10 bodů). Projects: IIR filter design. IIR filter implementation and measurement on the DSP processor TMS320C6X. Computer labs: IIR filter design. FIR filter design. Filter design in MATLAB. Measurement on TMS320C6X.
