Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The topic of subject is to give the basic skills from the region of the technology of the measurement systems. Participant will introduce systematically with subject matter of signal measurement and processing, with measured data acquiring and instrument control practice. On examples is introduced to the virtual instrumentation. There are read introduction information´s about electromagnetic compatibility, with practical examples of selected measurement. Application of the electronic instruments, design of the measurement systems and methods.

Teaching methods

Summary

The topic of subject is to give the basic skills from the region of the technology of the measurement systems. Participant will introduce systematically with subject matter of signal measurement and processing, with measured data acquiring and instrument control practice. On examples is introduced to the virtual instrumentation. There are read introduction information´s about electromagnetic compatibility, with practical examples of selected measurement. Application of the electronic instruments, design of the measurement systems and methods. In the subject is performed explanation: -terminology, documentation -measurement systems -local, centralized, including computers -electronic measurement instruments -electric circuits from viewpoint of measurement methodology -introduction to the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) -standards of data transfer in measurement systems. Subject is component of standard course of the line measurement and control in industry. Minimal qualification for study of title is termination of the title Electronic circuits. The subject is suitable for students of other lines and faculties, if they would be familiarized with measurement technology and electronic instruments The study knowledge tend to be renew by excursions to the enterprises, research institutes and project organizations.

Way of continuous check of knowledge in the course of semester

Verification of study: Essay: lecturer must approve technical exposition fabricated on the base of minimally three sources (two of them must be of foreign origin and language) at the theme in accordance of student's selection. Must contain bibliography (arranged with accordance with valid standards). The layout is given at the beginning of the semester. Laboratory task I. (Obligatory tasks): Record containing complex documentation, solving of assigned tasks with selected measurement instrument or system. For tasks are used world famous and present instruments. Student must be able with his documentation re-reproduce the task. Laboratory task II. (Individual tasks): Record containing complex documentation solving assigned not prefabricated tasks, At the compilation and solving tasks - students use fixtures, components and systems in the laboratory of subject. Student must be able with his documentation re-reproduce the task. Ha1f-yearly work: Solving of the more extensive problem (model) from the region of technology of the measurement system and operational instrumentation include realization of the hardware and software components. The documentation must contain the comprehensive problem solving description. The vindication is successful, when the student presents his own result, explains independently function, presents whole documentation of the solving method, including theory, including constructional and project arguments and including function verification and comments how the assignment was fulfilled. Student must be able the half -year work to public by location on WEB server. Conditions for credit: Min. 24 Points, max. 45 Points. Student is classified by created Essay, laboratory tasks, one Half-yearly work and concluding test. Half-yearly work 1 made over for credit Credit starting from 14.week

Lectures: Classification of the electronic instruments. Basic concepts in measurements instrument parameters. Functional blocks of the electronic instruments. Earthing and circuitry for elimination of influence distorting voltages at measurement. Sources in instruments. Stabilizers, its types, construction, temperature compensation. Parameter of the stabilization, design of the parametric stabilizer. Converters, switching sources. Circuits for controlling of converters. Primary and secondary sources, its features, utilization and operation. Circuits for processing of analog signals. Amplifiers, operational amplifiers and its applications. Circuits of digital blocks of the electronic instruments. Samplers, transducers, circuits for control and communication function. Direct current amplifiers. Principles of automatic stabilization for zero. AD transducers, static and dynamic features. Measurement voltage and current, Errors in measurement. DA transducers. Measurement of time intervals. Frequency meters and time meters. Generators. Frequency standards. Frequency stability. Automatisation of measurement. Bus and programming of devices. Documentation, its types and importance. Problems of the electromagnetic compatibility in instrument technology. Concluding test. Laboratories: Lab. 1. Principles of work in laboratory. Offer of the laboratory tasks and half-year works. Lab. 2. Measurement with memory digital scope. Basic functions. Lab. 3. Measurement with memory digital scope. Enhanced function. Lab. 4. Presentation of measurement with signal analyzer, its possibilities and utilization. Spectral analysis of the selected signals. Lab. 5. Measurement with logic analyzer, its possibilities and utilization. Measurement of the selected digital block. Lab. 6. Measurement with multimeter, its possibilities and utilization. Programming of measurement. Lab. 7. Measurement of low voltage. Lab. 8. Measurement of low currents. Lab. 9. Presentation of measurement with counters. Lab. 10. Presentation of utilization of the function generator. Lab. 11. Measurement with systemVXI, Lab. 12. Program control of measurement instruments from low level (Instrument Basic) Lab. 13. Program control of measurement instruments from high level (Labtech Notebook, HPITG II VEE) Lab. 14. Tutorial and submitting of Essays, records from obligatory and individual tasks and half-year works.
