Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
The subject is aimed to use of the control systems based on computer equipment encompassment. The computer equipment includes especially the microcontroller development boards with user input/output interface. The students will be able to make a computer-based control system design for sveral cases after passing that course.

This subject is aimed to computer equipment use in control systems.
The control systems architectures and function principles are discussed in several lessons subsequently. Separate components of hardware equipment and control system design problems are described too. The excercise contents lies in specific hardware learning - single chip microcomputers and their programming.

Lectures:
Computer equipment in control systems. Digital computer structure and function. The main unit of the computer. Main memory. Microprocessors. CISC and RISC architectures.
Internal structure of the computer units. Parallel architectures. Memories in control systems: semiconductor memories.
Peripheral units. External memories. Input/output devices. Input and output channels, parallel and serial interface.
Computer's interrupt system. Real-time computation. Conjunction of the hardware equipment and the operating system. Direct Memory Access - DMA.
Structure and characteristics of control computers and their development. The use of standard buses and interfaces in control systems. Modem, network adapter, USB, PCMCIA.
Devices for connection with technology process. Analog inputs and outputs. Digital inputs and outputs. Specific units. Adjusting units.
The graphic output devices, monitors, displays.
Memories in control systems: magnetic memories. Printers, plotters.
Motorola microprocessor family. Data coding inside computer. Internal processor structure, CPU architecture, memory map, data stack.
Motorola microprocessor family. Addressing modes, instruction file. Config. registers, clock generators, other devices - COP and LVI modules.
Motorola microprocessor family. Resets and interrupts - sources, handling, SIM module function. Interface modules - general parallel I/O ports.
Laboratories:
The safety of the work in labs. Number systems. Data coding in the computers.
Aritmethmetic operations in another number systems, operations in direct, inverse and complement code. Introduction of the Code Warrior environment on the PC.
Introduction to Motorola processors. Instruction excercises, assembler, work with PC.
Programming with assembler - data moving instructions, adressing modes, cycle, flag register test, work with PC.
Programming with assembler - arithmetic and logic instructions, masking, rotate and move instructions.
Programming with assembler - subprograms, interrupts.
