Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

Students will acquire the basic competencies for the production of technical documents, such as semestral projects, technical reports or bachelor's theses. Among the acquired competencies are the ability to identify the key parts of the document, to describe, illustrate and defend the solution. The skills acquired include the typography of the technical document using the LaTeX system.

Summary

The content of the subject is the typography of technical documents primarily using the LaTeX system, which will be demonstrated to the students in practical exercises. Students will learn to typeset all basic elements of text, document structure, tables, charts, illustrations, references. Students will also learn typographical rules valid for Czech language and basic aesthetics of technical documents.

Subject syllabus:

The following topics will be addressed in the seminars: Tools for technical documents typesetting. LaTeX principles. Plain text typesetting. Math typesetting. Tables. Technical illustrations. Data visualizations, graphs. References in documents, citations, cross references. Fonts, document layout.

Mandatory attendence participation: Participation in the exercises is compulsory and is monitored. The scope of the compulsory participation will be communicated to the students by the course supervisor at the beginning of the semester.
