The aims of this course are theoretical knowledge about designing of information system. - practical experiences and acceptance of database systems - design, specification a analysis of requirements for information system

Summary

The aim of the course is to introduce theoretical background of an analysis and a creation of information systems. Every student applies its theoretical knowledge to implement a simple information system in a database enviroment.

C.J. Date: An Introduction to Database Systems. Addison Wesley, 8th Edition, 2003.

Recommended literature:

H. Garcia-Molina, J.D. Ullman, J.D. Widom. Database Systems: The Complete Book. Prentice Hall, 2001.

Way of continuous check of knowledge in the course of semester

Project: Design own web pages. Build small scale information system. Credit acceptance: Deliver requested acceptable projects in time.

Subject syllabus:

Lectures: Basic elements of computer architecture, von Neumann scheme. Software – operation system, application software. Computer network. Internet – services used on internet. System, Information system, Data direction system (database), Basic terms in Theory of Databases. Project life cycle – levels and their brief characteristics. Specification. Project analysis, analysis tools. Data modeling -E-R model, data dictionary. Function model - DFD diagram, Context diagram. Dynamic analysis - State diagram Yourdon’s structured analysis. Project design, Testing, Documentation. CASE systems.
