Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

Repeat and consolidate the knowledge learned in the subject Physics I. Define and characterize the basic physical principles and laws. Solve selected simple laboratory tasks and discuss their results.

Summary

Physics I Practical Exercises follow the course of the first year Physics I. Their goaln is to practice and consolidate the knowledge gained in this previously lectured courses in mechanics and molecular physics. In addition to theoretical knowledge, students also acquire practical skills in relevant areas.

Subject syllabus:

1. Introduction to laboratory safety. 2. Introduction to the theoretical basis of tasks and devices used in the laboratory. Cyclical measurement of these tasks: 1 a) Measurement of gravitational acceleration using a free falling ball b) Measurement of gravitational acceleration with a mathematical pendulum 2 a) Measuring the moment of inertia using the equation of motion b) Measurement of the moment of inertia from the period of oscillation 3. Measuring the speed of sound 4. Measurement of thermal conductivity of metals 5. a) Measurement of the surface tension of the liquid from the outlet in the capillary b) Measurement of Poisson's constant 6. Measurement of the modulus of elasticity in tension from the transverse oscillations of the rod by the dynamic method 7. Measurement of the coefficient of static and shear friction 8. Measurement of the specific heat capacity of solid substances 9. Frequency measurement using shock wave
