Summary

The subject is an introductory subject for the Laboratory exercise Physics I, II and III. The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the principles experimental work in physics and evaluation of measured values by uncertainty measurement result. The acquired theoretical knowledge is practiced on simple measurements of selected physical quantities.

Subject syllabus:

1st Logical diagram of the experimental work and reports of measurements. Measurement conditions. 2nd Selected metrological concepts related to measurement, especially true value of variables, error and uncertainty. Uncertainties of type A and B. 3rd The procedure for determining uncertainties in direct measurements. Practical exercise: measurement of longitudinal length of the various gauges, timing stopwatch, evaluation of uncertainty of type A and B. 4th The procedure for determining the uncertainty in indirect measurements - using the Gauss´s law of transfer uncertainties. Practical exercise: measurement of density and inertia metal roller by definition methods. 5th Progressive method of measurement. Practical exercise: time measurement of vibration of the pendulum by progressive method, measuring the wavelength of sound waves by standing waves. 6th Determination of type B uncertainties of electrical measuring instruments - analog instruments (accuracy class), a digital device. Practical Exercise: Resistance measurement of resistor by definition method. 7th Graphic processing of measured values - the main principles of construction of the graph. The method of least squares. Practical exercises: VA characteristics of the resistor.
