Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

Student characterises physical relations leading to the flexible tool trajectory curvature inside material. Student is able to formulate rules using physical equations that he analyses. Student predicts parameters of tool necessary for interaction with material.

Summary

The aim of the course is to acquaint students with theoretical and experimental ways of describing typical features left by the traces of flexible jets on the material, ways of compensating and simulating these compensations. The main benefit should be to familiarize students with the negative features of working with flexible tools, to learn how to predict their size according to the type of material, its dimensions, the speed of material processing and other factors. The student should learn whether a theoretical or experimental approach is appropriate to solve the problem, whether the necessary precision can be achieved by the use of compensation, or whether the flexible tool is inappropriate in application due to the impossibility of executing the required precision, enormous costs, environmental damage, etc.

Subject syllabus:

1. Analysis of physical reasons for changes of flexible tool trajectory direction during penetration through material. 2. Physical description of jet trajectory using material and tool properties. 3. Determination of the key parameters influencing trajectory of the given tool type (laser, plasma, liquid jet). 4. Determination of the two basic deviations of the trajectory by penetration of the tool through material – divergence and delay. 5. Determination of the necessary compensations from theoretical models of tool operation. 6. Determination of compensations according to experimental results, determination of typical shapes for calculations of compensations. 7. Analysis of the relation of compensations on machining factors - dynamic modes of changes.
