Collect theoretical bases and experimental methods of interferometry and fibre optics. Describe, clarify and interpret the most important findings in this field. Apply modern approaches in solving the practice problems.

The subject is connected with the student's knowledge of optics and diagnostics. Student gains knowledge in the areas of interferometry and fiber optics and will be familiar with their applications in various fields of physics.

Subject syllabus:

1. Statistical description of optical fields. 2. Two-beam interference of partially coherent optical fields. 3. Interferometry in the time domain. 4. Interferometry in the spectral domain. 5. Spectral reflectometry and polarimetry. 6. Applications of interferometry. 7. Fundamentals of theory of waveguiding in optical fibres. 8. Dispersion in optical fibres. 9. Single-mode optical fibres. 10. Specialty optical fibres. 11. Measurement of parameters of optical fibres. 12. Applications of fibre optics.
