Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

To list the overview of the basic methods of surface treatment materials. Explain the principles of individual methods and their application in terms of the appropriateness of procedures for the materials. Propose optimal procedures for surface treatment in order to increase the resistance of the analyzed material.

Summary

Students are acquainted with the distribution of surface treatments and the basics of corrosion. These are pre-treatment of material surfaces (mechanical and chemical). Methods of surface technology: vacuum methods, thermal sprays, glass ceramic coatings and organic coatings, coating technology. Quality evaluation of coatings: mechanical properties, adhesion of coatings, selected experimental methods of study of surface layers of materials.
