To know the classification of substances, quantum-mechanical model of the structure of solids and their properties. To acquaint oneself with transmission phenomena with emphasis on metallurgical processes and fundamentals of technical diagnostics.

Subject syllabus:

Krystalografie, krystalová struktura pevných látek, typy mřížek, interakce mřížek se zářením. Kvantově mechanický model stavby pevných látek. Atomy a molekuly, teorie stavby pevných látek, vazby v látkách a vliv struktury na vlastnosti pevných látek. Bodové poruchy mřížky. Difuse. Základní charakteristika bodových poruch a jejich vlastnosti, teorie difuse, difuse bodových poruch. Dislokační teorie. Dislokace, dislokační mechanismy, vliv dislokací na vlastnosti metalurgických materiálů, fázová rozhraní, princip deformačního zpevnění, pohyb dislokací, teorie vnitřního tření, deformačně indukovaná rekrystalizace, nukleace a migrace hranic zrn. Plastická deformace.
