Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

Analyze of the use of the continuum mechanics methods for description of the physical estate Evaluate the potential of the continuum mechanics procedures for the selected processes Set the limits of the continuum mechanics application for description of the selected estates Apply the continuum mechanics procedures at selected processes Combine various kinds of description of the physical phenomena

Teaching methods

Individual consultations
Project work

The aim of the subject is to present the basic common description of the material continuum, emphasising the insight into common features of all continuum types. Based on this knowledge the specific features of particular continuum types, both linear and non-linear ones, are considered. The essentials of the thermodynamic coupling influence on the continuum properties and behaviour and electrodynamic analogy are analysed as well, including some practical examples. The extent of individual themes is modified according to the professional specialization of the students.
