Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

One of the major objectives of historical geology is to describe the history of the Earth from its inception to the present. Knowledge and explanation how to recognise geological time and the use of stratigraphy, and paleontology to tell the sequence of these events.

Summary

Fundamental rules and principles of historical geology. Absolute and relative age. Stratigraphic scales and their units. Stratotypes. Classification of sedimentation environments. Paleogeographic maps and palinspastic schemes. Genesis of the Earth and its early history. The Precambrian, its particularities, possibilities of division and developmental rules. Classical areas of the Precambrian and the Bohemian Massif. The Phanerozoic, developmental stages, major events, characteristics of classical areas and equivalent deposits in the territory of the Czech Republic.
