Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
Knowledge and comprehension of genesis and classification of rocks. Recognize and describe rock textures and structures.Students should learn:
Collect fundamentals of research and classification of rocks Describe, clarify and interpret processes of rock cycle, Apply analytical methods to describe rocks
Ilustrate knowledge in simple examples of utilization of rock.

Petrography - the object of interest, the Earth crust and its chemical composition, processes of rock formation, genetic criteria of basic rock classification. Regularities of the origin of igneous rocks, classification principles on the basis of phase (mineral) composition and chemical composition of rocks. The role of magmatic rocks for basic and applied geological research. Sedimentary rocks – origin,classification of sediments.
