Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
The main goal of this subject is to teach the students to outline and describe individual technologies and technical means used in oil and gas production and drilling boreholes carried out both in the surface (oil and gas wells, hydrogeological boreholes, boreholes drilled for purposes of engineering geology, construction building etc.) and, first of all, in the underground mining conditions (both in collieries and ore mines too). The students must be able to explain principles of these technologies and by use of practical tutorials illustrate and discriminate fields of their utilization. They will learn how to utilize and apply their theoretical knowledge gained in the field of exploitation and drilling works and make a practice of this konwledge during their computation tutorials and practical visits in department of drilling. Within the frame of tutorials they must be able to judge the importance of scheduled tasks, to analyse them and find suitable solutions presented in the form of elaborates. Last, but not least, they have to learn how to judge the importance of information which they gathered in the course of study, to conclude and compare this information and to choose this one, which is most important for their next professional advancement.

Summary
Study of this subject is directed at these fundamental thematic spheres of action – methods for the determination of basic physical characteristics of reservoir rocks, liquids and gases, primer of technics and technology used by liquid and gas production, flow intensification, secondary and tertiary production methods, collecting, transport and treatment of hydrocarbons, underground well repairs, methane output using surface coal-seam degassing, effect of a production activity upon an environment.
The part „Drilling technologies“ is intent expecially on these thematic spheres of action – the basic kinds of boreholes drilled in underground conditions, methods of their realisation and the purposes of their utilization. Drilling technics and technological processes utilized during drilling boreholes in underground – main function blocks (units) of drilling machines, geological exploratory and operative technical boreholes, safety boreholes drilled in underground – degassing, dewatering, geotechnical boreholes, large – diameter drilling in underground, new technologies and technical means used by drilling underground boreholes, drilling using down – the – hole hammers, new trends in drilling technologies.
