Subject syllabus:

The subject is dealing with theoretical and practical aspects of groundwater flow in rock environment – porous media and hydraulic parameters and their estimation. Content: Basic terminology in groundwater hydraulics. Physical properties of fluids and aquifers. Types of porous media filtration flows, governing equations and characteristics, Continuity equation, steady and transient flow of compressible and uncompressible fluids. Linear Darcy law, groundwater flow velocity, tortuosity. Governing equations – Boussinesq – flow in unconfined aquifer. Steady state flow governing equations - Dupuit. Transient flow governing equations – Theis. Depression cone, well interference. Methods of hydraulic parameters estimation. Hydrodynamic testing – methods.
