Summary

Sediments and their classification. Strata and sedimentary structures. Sedimentary environments and their characteristics: alluvial, lacustrine and deltaic sediments. Eolian and glacial deposits. Shallow marine sedimentation of clastics and carbonates. Deep-sea sedimentation. Residual sediments and rock mantles. Sediments and climate. Global and regional cycles of sedimentation. Foundations of sequential stratigraphy. The Quaternary process of weathering and sediments.
