Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The goal of the course is to obtain knowledge about genesis and characteristics of construction materials. To understand connection between their genesis, quality and use. To check and put into praxis obtained theoretical knowledge – excursion into quarry.

Annotation Geological part: 1) Geology, its disciplines a working methods 2) Construction of planet Earth, isostasis, mechanical tension 3) Science about layer, layering, cycles and rythms, deposition of layers, technical meaning of layer surfaces 4) Structural geology, continuous and discontinuous structures 5) Endogenous dynamics, magmatism, plutonits, diastrofism 6) Exogenous dynamics, weathering, erosion, sedimentation Deposit part: 1) Minig law – dedicated and non-reserved minerals, geological law 2) Basic terms a clasification of minerals and their genesis 3) Brick materials, plastic and focusing component, genesis, occurrence, use 4) Gravel and sands, genesis, occurrence, use 5) Glass and foundry sands, genesis, occurence, use 6) Construction stone, genesis, occurrence, use 7) Organogenic sediments and evaporits

Subject syllabus:

Geology, it’s disciplines, usage of geology in construction and other praxis. The Earth form angle of current knowledge (construction of the Earth, plate tectonics). Fundaments of the earth's crust – rocks and minerals. Characteristics of rocks and soils. Rocks in construction praxis. Geological structures. Magmatism. Effect of exogenous processes on the Earth. Types and shapes of relief, their usage in praxis. The basics of regional geology in CR. Deposits of carbonates and their use. The deposits of gypsum and it’s use. Sparkle and petrurgic materials and their usage. The deposits of gravel and sand and their usage. The deposits of decorative stones and their use. The deposits of brick materials and their use. The deposits of kaolin and it’s use.
